What to Expect on the Day

Very early camp pickup
You are collected from your Mara camp or lodge before dawn, often around 4:30 to 5:00am, and driven to the launch site.
Stay inside or near the reserve the night before. The launch is too early to reach from Nairobi on the day.2
Dawn launch
As the sky lightens the crew inflate the balloon, you climb into the basket, and lift off just as the sun rises over the plains.

The flight
For about an hour you drift low over the savanna, watching for wildebeest, zebra, elephant, giraffe and the occasional lion or hippo along the Mara River.
Wildlife roams freely, so sightings vary morning to morning. The vast landscape at dawn is the guaranteed reward.4
Champagne bush breakfast
After landing on the plains you sit down to a full champagne breakfast set up in the bush, often followed by a game drive back to camp.
